SatSure Sparta

About
SatSure Sparta is an open innovation data platform that enables the combination of satellite imagery with weather, IoT, social and economic datasets, among others, to generate timely, location-specific and actionable insights that can be used by agritech companies, agrifood corporates and financial services firms.

Capability and features
Agribusinesses can use SatSure Sparta to access satellite data products as APIs to build and scale agricultural advisory and farm management solutions. By using SatSure Sparta, clients do not need to invest in building remote sensing teams and can scale their businesses faster by easily integrating spatial intelligence into their operations and offering satellite-derived predictive insights as a value-add to their customers.

Input manufacturers can use SatSure Sparta for crop health monitoring, crop yield data and to build historical crop databases for analysis of cropping and climate patterns. This can enable better business planning and supply chain efficiency.

Financial institutions can also use SatSure Sparta’s historical crop data at the farm and village level to assess farm-level risk and regional economic development.

Progress to date
In India, banks have provided loans to almost two million farmers using SatSure’s platform. About 500,000 farmer insurance claims have been settled using information from the platform. SatSure has also provided advisory services to more than 100,000 farmers through their clients.

In the Philippines, SatSure, in partnership with the Philippines Department of Agriculture and a crop insurance company, has worked with about 90,000 farmers to provide improved yield assessments, post-typhoon damage assessments and targeted extension services. SatSure is also reaching about 15,000 farmers in Myanmar through their partnership with Maha Microfinance.

SatSure partners with Microsoft in India and Amazon Web Services in the APAC region as well as about 71 agritech firms in India. In 2019, SatSure was a finalist in MIT’s Inclusive Innovation Challenge, selected as one of the top innovators by the World Bank in their Agriculture InsureTech Innovation challenge and awarded an ADB Ventures award. SatSure is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Innovators Community.

FarmAI

About
ListenField’s mission is to provide comprehensive farming solutions that can significantly cut costs, enhance yield quality and stabilize yields, using their API precision farming technology platform. Their mobile app, FarmAI, uses IoT integration, predictive analytics for climate and crop growth, and analysis of satellite imagery to give farmers actionable data for decision-making in every step of the farming process.

Their mobile app, FarmAI, uses IoT integration, predictive analytics for climate and crop growth, and analysis of satellite imagery to give farmers actionable data for decision-making in every step of the farming process.

ListenField’s core technology empowers their clients to:

  1. Significantly cut the cost of obtaining highly accurate field surveys with advanced field insight technology
  2. Use predictive analytics data to determine optimal planting and harvesting dates, identify phenological stages, and economize on the use of inputs
  3. Access AI models that help anticipate pest infestations. Their technology platform provides field insights from below and above ground and from satellite imagery, for accurate and timely monitoring of yield performance and risks
  4. Produce crops with superior quality characteristics eg. sweetness, protein and amylose content. This will be achieved through their AI and crop modelling combined with phenology and genotype selection.

ListenField’s goal is to enable farming communities to construct a business intelligence dashboard, derived from ListenField’s comprehensive and automated digitized database. This dashboard will help monitor crop health, anticipate weather patterns and assess as well as predict crop yield and productivity. This platform will help farming communities manage and monitor their output and crop quality in a timely and cost-effective manner. Their technology will also facilitate inspections to obtain third-party sustainability certifications, which have considerable commercial value for farmers.

Progress to date
To date, FarmAI is being used by about 30,000 farmers in Thailand, directly and through their clients. ListenField was one of the finalists of the 2019 SEED Low Carbon Award, which is supported by UNDP and UNEP, and has partnerships with several organic farming communities and the Bank of Thailand.

The IFC has also selected ListenField as a partner for a project involving rice-farming communities in Vietnam. The project is also being supported by Angel’s Fine Foods, an Australian distributor of gourmet food products

Advance AI driven analysis

About: Adatos provides analysis on key crop performance metrics using AI to interpret huge amounts of multispectral and SAR data from satellites.

Capability and features:  Adatos uses advanced AI to provide analysis on any scale from 1 ha to 100,000,000 ha. We can measure foliar and soil macronutrients (N,P,K), moisture stress, yield estimation, pest and disease and other key indicators. This helps farmers optimise the use and type of fertiliser to where it is most needed based on 100% analysis of the crop.

For forestry we also measure biomass remotely.

Our technology can be applied to any crop in any location. We are keen to work with aggregators such as wholesale producers, buyers, fertiliser companies, equipment manufacturers, who can efficiently deliver this information to smallholders.

Progress to date

Achievements:

Custom disease detection models for specific crops.

Very large scale analysis to detect areas planted with oil palm and the biological age of the palm. Modelling of yield for crops based on large sets of high-dimensionality satellite and weather data.
